  1. I’ve always been fascinated by spinning wheels that I have seen, but haven’t a clue as to how they work! I love anything that relates to crafts…even computer crafts. I’m always “UP” for learning something new…leather tooling, miniatures, desktop publishing, bookbinding, etc. I’m not always good at it, but I like to give it a shot!..my last kit I bought was for learning wood carving. I’ve managed to make one “woodcut” plaque so far…it’ll take a while to really get the hang of it.

  2. Lynn G. says:

No…But I wish I had the tools and the knowledge. Thanks for the opportunity.

  3. Jeanette says:

No..but would like to try! Thanks for the chance to win!

  4. Mary Mac says:

No! I have been trying to learn as much about it as possible but have not tried it.

  5. KittenWithAWhiplash says:

I’m still a novice drop spindle spinner, though I’ve been at it for a few years. Either I don’t do it enough to get better, or I keep making the same mistakes and now they’re deeply ingrained. Oh wait, it’s both of those. Sigh.

  6. knittingdancer on Ravelry says:

I don’t spin but I have a very good friend that has a spinning wheel. She spun a beautiful skin of yarn for me a couple of weeks ago from a bag of fiber art batt that I had.

  7. Susan Havens says:

I spin and have 2 spinning wheels and a multitude of spindles. Before we moved to Missouri, I used to do demonstrations once a year at the Limon Heritage Festival in Limon, Colorado. It is a nice way to unwind and destress.

  8. Sandra L Parker says:

no, i have watched them at the fair but have so many WIP and stash yarn to crochet that i really don’t feel the need to take on a new craft. the yarn they make is fabulous tho and want to purchase some for a special project sometime

  9. I discovered the relaxing rhythm of spinning many years ago- the first fiber I spun was my Lhasa Apso’s – a little ‘hair’ of the dog. Although she is no longer with me, I still keep that skein as a memento of a beloved friend.

  10. PeggersMcGavin says:

I have magazines that tell about it but I have never tried it. Thank you for an interesting place.

  11. No, I never have but what a quincidance, I’ve been reading up on the traditions of weaving, spinning and old techniques of crocheting and knitting. It’s so azing how one would spin their own yarn and then dye it from mother natures plants and trees. I would love to do spinning of my own. I do all kinds of crafting but crafting with yarn is my favorite next to painting.

  12. I grew up with several spinning wheels in my mother’s and grandmother’s houses, but I never really knew what they were for. Once I figured that out, I really wanted to try it! But I have yet to fulfill that eventuality.

  13. My husband made me a drop spindle, and I have done that a little, but I would love to get a spinning wheel or have him make me one. I have been saving my dog’s fur to spin into yarn.

  14. No! I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE to learn though! I’m just afraid I wouldn’t be coordinated enough to do it properly! I thought that about knitting as well, but I have a year under my belt now! Practice makes perfect!

  15. Mindi Tramitz says:

I do not spin……YET. The wonderful yarn store I frequent/take classes in has a teacher who is, herself, a spinner and she offers classes. However, after watching her teach, I decided that my need for “instant gratification” would be better served by buying the yarn already spun. On that happy note, anyone want 2 HUGE black garbage bags of alpaca fleece from my brother-in-law’s herd? :)

  16. Tracy Bower says:

I have a drop spindle, roving and a book on how to spin. I really want to learn but I find it intimidating. Eventually I will break down and attempt to teach myself but I just haven’t worked up the courage to try it yet. I think I’d be far more apt to do it with a spinning wheel, they seem easier than hand spinning to me.

  17. Elaine Eliason says:

Would love to get into that part of creating.

  18. Vickie Westrup says:

On my bucket list, I have sheering, spinning, then knitting. It may not be anything but a swatch, but I just want to be able to say I did it.

  19. No I do not spin at thisvtime but it sounds like something I would like to do in the future.

  20. Robin Van Vleet says:

No, I haven’t tried spinning, but I do love natural fibers and should probably learn! I live in a small town where there are actually sheep on a small farm in the middle of town!

  21. Diana K says:

I tried spinning, and even went out and bought a spinning wheel, but I was so bad at it that I ended up selling my wheel..LOL!

  22. I barely have time to knit, although it would be an interesting skill to have.

  23. I love to watch spinners. I have never tried it myself and honestly I am afraid to try it. I enjoy so many crafts, that my Craft Attention Deficit Disease is acute. I have so many started projects, I fear trying to spin would lead to more :)

  24. Cathy Paxson says:

No, but I enjoy watching it done in places like Williamsburg or Conner Prairie in IN. I have no access to the supplies nor do I have the tools to do it.

  25. I do not spin but, am very curious about it and would love to try!

  26. Ariel Carver says:

I have always been mesmerized by watching my friends who spin, just the way the wheel is rhythmically whirling. I really want to learn how to spin myself, there are just so many projects on my list of things to learn that I havent gotten around to it yet. I want to have sheep or a llama one day so that I can spin and knit their wool.

  27. anjella says:

No, I haven’t tried spinning. I’ve been very tempted but my husband has forbidden me to pick up any new hobbies unless they start paying for themselves.

  28. Jessica Nelson: Ubergeek says:

I will eventually have to learn so we can survive the Zombie Apocalypse and the next Great Depression.
Hubby and I joke about what we would need for either. He is a gun enthusiast and there are several brands of guns and ammo that are now sold for the Zombie Apocalypse.
So he agreed that my yarn hobby could be a real asset in the Post WW3, Plague, Apocalypse world.

  29. Betsy Martinson says:

As usual, I did this all backwards! I had an angora bunny and decided I should learn how to spin so that his beautiful wool wouldn’t be wasted. Then I found access to some angora goats and started processing and spinning THEIR wool! Three years later I had this stash of awkward, rustic yarn with no way to use it. So THAT’s when I learned to knit. Now the critters are gone, but the knitting obsession lives on!

  30. Jeanette Brimhall says:

No, not a spinner. All wrapped up in crocheting!

  31. Becky W says:

I have never tried it and between knitting, crocheting, and being on the computer, I don’t know when I would find the time. I have an Australian Shepherd that sheds terribly and would love to be able to make her fur into yarn. Does anyone really do that? Does it have to be long hair?

  32. Liz Tomlinson says:

I had a friend who did spin her yarn, but too much trouble, when I knit I want to knit and be finished lol

  33. amanda jenks says:

I haven’t tried spinning yet! Always willing though!

  34. Martha Sobolow Friedman says:

Fascinated by the process but have never tried it. Don’t know if I’d have the patience.

  35. I would love to learn!!!!!

  36. Although I am fascinated by the spinning of yarn and the beautiful creations they come up with, I barely have enough time to knit what I would like to, so spinning is not for me. I have a great lys with unusual yarns that they then help me find a pattern to make something unique for me.

  37. Yes, I can spin… though I prefer to knit! Originally learned to spin on a “walking wheel” at Old Sturbridge Village, and can use either a wheel or a drop spindle.

  38. I am a spinner and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!

  39. Not yet!

  40. If someone was to show me I would defently learn how:)

  41. JJMolvik says:

My attempt to spin: got a wheel from church garage sale, replaced ‘belt’, got kittens, replaced ‘belt, kids broke leather connecting arm & foot pedal, sent wheel back to next church garage sale.

  42. Judy Phillips says:

I have done a very little bit of spinning with a drop spindle and SO want to do more. To spin, dye and knit a finished piece is my dream! I have started a dyer’s garden and have access to raw wool. All it takes is TIME!
