The Details

For six weeks, we’ll be making the gorgeous Cobblestone Road Socks with knitting blogger and designer Christina Hammond from Fuzzy Sheep Crafts!  Each week Christina will post tutorials demonstrating how to knit the next part of the socks as we make our socks together!  During the knit-along, we’ll share our progress by posting photos or asking questions in the AllFreeKnitting Flickr group. This way we can all help each other and cheer each other on. And here’s the best part: at the end of the knit-along, one participant from our Flickr group will be chosen at random to receive a $50 prize package from Galler Yarns!

How to Participate

Join the Knit-Along!

1. Read the Cobblestone Road Socks pattern and start gathering your materials.

3. Check back on the blog for weekly new tutorials and videos, so you don’t miss a step!

4. Join the AllFreeKnitting Flickr group and upload a photo of your progress or finished socks.  If you don’t have a Flickr profile, it’s easy to make one! Find out how here.

sounds like fun I think I’ll give it a try as I have been interested in knitting socks, but have never tried it yet.

  2. Cindy Bailey says:

Count me in. I knit lots of socks, but I stick to knitting the cuff down, plain pattern type. Time to expand my horizons!

  3. Liz Tomlinson says:

Wish this were more of a beginner project think I’d better learn more before tackling these.

  4. Liz – this pattern is perfect for beginners! It’s knit flat, so no fiddling with tiny double points! Give it a whirl- ill be walking thru each step along with you, and I’m happy to help!

  13. caitlin says:

@Rochelle – Thank you so much for enlisting your mom and daughter to join us; we’re so excited!

As for the button, if you right click and select “save image as” you should be able to keep a copy on your computer. Feel free to use the button wherever! :)

  14. I think I’d like to give this a try. Wondering 2 things: 1)Is it possible to seam these socks without leaving an uncomfortable ‘ridge’, yet invisibly? 2)will this pattern work ok to do 2 at a time? Otherwise I’m certain I’ll never get the 2nd done, let alone another of the same size….

  15. i’d love to try some socks!

  16. I thought I would give it a try.

  17. I’d like to give it a try. Saah

  21. I am in! I want to try this. However, the yarn appears to worsted weight number 4 yarn. Is it possible to do this with sock weight yarn and what adjustments would I need to make?

  31. Just found this announcement. I’m in!

  32. Terese P says:

I think the cobblestone pattern looks darling. However, I prefer lightweight sock yarn for wocks and I don’t think the seam would be comfortable. It will be easier knitting, but circulars & double-pointed needles aren’t so hard–I figured out how to make my first pair of socks on dpns with just Internet tutorials. I would love it if you would have other knit-alongs in the future.

  33. Lourdes says:

Looking forward to doing my first
